Hi! We're Mike and Linda, an Edinburgh-based writer and illustrator team and the creators of Follow The Creatures.
Mike
I studied at Edinburgh University, completing an MA Hons in Religion and Social Policy—including morals and ethics—before earning a PGCE in Secondary Education and becoming a Secondary School Teacher. But what I'm especially good at is telling stories! I love artfully weaving fun, imaginative tales with gentle life lessons that help young children understand friendship, kindness, and big feelings.
Linda
I adore animals and love bringing our storybook creatures to life on the page. I'm a retired general nurse, healthcare manager, and life coach, with years spent caring for people in the NHS. These days, I can't stop illustrating—whether it's our lovable characters or enchanting scenes.
Our Creatures
Together, we've created five special friends: two flying creatures (a bat and a bird), two water creatures (an octopus and a lobster), and one land creature (a bear). They go on whimsical adventures that gently support pre-schoolers in exploring emotions like bravery, joy, sadness, and kindness—perfect for bedtime stories or quiet-time learning.
We pour heart and care into every tale, hoping to bring a little calm, connection, and wonder to children and their grown-ups.
