About Us

Hi! We're Mike and Linda, an Edinburgh based writer and illustrator team and the creators of Follow the Creatures.

Mike

I've had a colourful career as a searcher of records, bus driver, advertising business owner, DJ, sound engineer, bed and breakfast proprietor, property renovator, painter, decorator and locksmith.

I studied at Edinburgh University completing an MA Hons in Religion and Social Policy, and then completed a PGCE in Secondary Education and became a Secondary School Teacher.

But what I am especially good at, is telling stories! I artfully combine fun, imaginative stories with lessons in life for young children.

Linda

I adore animals and love portraying the creatures in our stories. I’ve had many animal companions over the years: dogs, cats, budgies, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, tortoises and frogs. I’ve never had a bat, an octopus, a lobster or a robin as an animal companion, but if I did, I’m sure they would be just like Pedro, Bubbles, Claws and Robbie.

My former career was dedicated to the National Health Service, serving as a qualified general nurse and then manager. I worked in various places including accident and emergency and the prison service.

Now, I can't stop illustrating; storybook characters, scenes and pets.
